The Ultimate Baby Registry List I Wish I Had Before Becoming a Mom
Putting together a baby registry can feel completely overwhelming — especially when it’s your first baby.
There are thousands of products online, everyone gives different advice, and somehow every “must-have” list says something different. When I was creating my own baby shower list, I spent hours trying to figure out what I’d actually need versus what would just take up space.
So after becoming a mom myself, I decided to put together the baby registry list I wish I had from the beginning.
Before creating my own registry, I polled all of my mom friends, looked through their baby lists, and asked what they actually used postpartum and during those exhausting newborn weeks. Then I took it one step further and found products at different price points so this list works for every budget — whether you want affordable basics, upgraded favorites, or a mix of both.
The Things I Actually Couldn’t Live Without
There were a few products that quickly became everyday essentials in our house — the things I reached for constantly and would immediately recommend to any expecting mom.
My biggest newborn game changers were:
Zipper sleepers
Bassinet sheets (you need more than you think)
Zipper swaddles — not Velcro ones
A good baby carrier
A bottle washer
A diaper pail
A changing pad so I wasn’t changing the baby in bed all night
And honestly, honorable mention goes to the wedge pillow I bought for myself for nighttime breastfeeding. I used it constantly during those early weeks.
Why I Made This List
One thing I realized very quickly after having a baby is that you do not need every trendy baby product online.
You just need the things that actually make life easier when you’re exhausted, recovering postpartum, and learning your new routine.
That’s exactly what I focused on while putting this list together.
I wanted this guide to feel realistic — not overwhelming. So instead of only including expensive “viral” products, I made sure there were options that work for different budgets too.
Because whether someone wants the affordable version or the upgraded version, both moms and babies deserve products that make those newborn days smoother.
What You’ll Find In This List
This registry guide includes:
Newborn essentials
Feeding must-haves
Sleep necessities
Diapering products
Baby gear
Bath essentials
Registry favorites moms actually use
I also kept postpartum recovery items separate since those deserve their own dedicated list.
